Available below is a pdf file of the article 'Patterns and Acoustical Properties of Anomalous Environmental Sounds' by Paul Dennis Sporer.

A summary of the article follows: 'Unusual sounds in the natural environment, variously described as unexplained detonations, Seneca guns, barisal guns, etc, have been reported by numerous credible witnesses around the world. The cause of these distinctive acoustical anomalies has been speculatively linked to weather or seismic factors, but due to the absence of 'hard data', scientific investigation into these events has not been forthcoming. Thus, there is no definitive knowledge about the mechanisms and processes behind the sounds. However, on October 6, 2011 in New York State, powerful evidence of this elusive auditory phenomenon was collected in the form of a high quality hour-long digital recording. Using original methodology, an extensive analysis of the recording was carried out in both the time and frequency domains, with the conclusion that highly systematic patterns of activity occurred during this event, indicating a well-ordered sound generating mechanism.'

The author Paul Dennis Sporer adds the following information: The background to this article is interesting. In brief, I submitted for the purpose of publication to American Scientist (aka Sigma Xi, Inc) this article, which contains research of a highly significant nature. After this, through my own investigation, I discovered that certain staff members at Sigma Xi made illegal copies of my materials, investigated my personal life, and passed on information about me covertly to unknown agencies, possibly in an attempt to censor and block my article. I considered these activities to be totally unprofessional and unethical. My attempts to gain information from Sigma Xi about these issues were completely unsuccessful, and I therefore made a formal public complaint against the magazine (BBB case 11091779). For more details, please go to this link: http://easternnc.app.bbb.org/complaint/view/11091779/c/23d923. Sigma Xi's publisher responded to the complaint, stating that this unorthodox investigation of my work and background was part of a routine 'review' in consideration of publishing the article. This directly contradicted the managing editor's statement that the article was never considered for publication. The reasons for Sigma Xi's bizarre theft of intellectual property and publicly lying about their activities still remain to be determined, and my investigation continues.
